Here at The Job People we are recruiting for an experienced Press Operator to join a well established family run business within the Manufacturing and Engineering Industry based in B6.

This is a permanent role and we are looking to start this position ASAP.

Summary

Reporting directly to the Press Shop Supervisor you will be responsible for all of the daily requirements and executions within your job description.

It is important for the Press Setter to be able to quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the processes and job requirements to be able to effectively assist in all required operations with support of the Press Shop Supervisor. This will include assisting to identify areas to improvement efficiency, all training requirements, and assisting in other areas of the press shop if within your capabilities.

The communication line between the Press Setter and Press Shop Supervisor needs to be strong and clear at all times to ensure organisational objectives are met and the overall business strategy is achievable.

The role will be based primarily in Birmingham but travel throughout the UK may be required.

Key Responsibilities as a Press Setter in Birmingham B6

  • To perform the accurate settings of presses ensuring optimum speeds are maintained ensuring the safety of operatives and tooling.
  • To operate presses following processes set by the company whilst maintain the required level of output at all times.
  • Operating all lifting equipment available to ensure the safe movement of equipment, tools and materials to various locations of the workshop.
  • To check components, before/during and after try-outs/production runs using the appropriate inspection equipment/gauges.
  • To read technical drawings (press tool and components)
  • Work within the quality control and process measures for every stage of production, completing all necessary documentation as required.
  • Ensure all tools, materials and equipment are stored in their correct location.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, follow 5s housekeeping.
  • Carry out any assembly work that may be required.
  • Ensure all levels of PPE are worn at all times.
  • Ensure all quality standards applicable to Westley Engineering are followed and adhered to.
  • Carry out any training requirements as set by your supervisor/manager.
  • Accurately complete any paperwork required to ensure efficiency in the press shop.
  • Follow the Health & Safety at work act regulation, you will be notified of any updates that apply.
  • Monitor health and safety in the department - ensure any incidents/observations are reported to Health & Safety officers.
  • There may be other requirements you are asked to perform not mentioned, these requirements will be requested by your supervisor and will be within your capabilities to perform.

Pay & Shift information as a Press Setter in Birmingham - B6 within the Manufacturing and Production Industry

  • Monday to Thursday 07.00 - 16.00
  • Friday 07.00 - 12.00
  • Pay between �13.50 - �15.00 per hour
  • Overtime pay
