Position Summary:ThePresident/CEOisresponsibleforUnitedWayofNorthernShenandoahValley’s(UWNSV) mission and has the authority, within the framework of the UWNSV’s plans, policies and Bylaws, to take necessary action to perform the job responsibilities.The President/CEO will be a mission-driven, collaborative, and innovative leader and manager. TheCEOis expected to solicit gifts directly and through volunteers.PartnershipMindsetandNetwork-Oriented:TheCEOhasa collaborative mindset.TheyvalueandleveragethepowerofnetworksandUnitedWay’sbreadthofcommunity presence, relationships, and strategies, while providing leadership at the local and regional level.Essential Duties andResponsibilities:LeadDevelopmentandOversightofthestrategicplanningprocess.Leadthedevelopmentandimplementationoftheannualoperationalplan.FosterthedevelopmentofacommonvisionforUWNSVamongvolunteers,staff, human service providers and the community.Providecleardirectionandasenseof priorities.Developinnovativeapproachestomeetthechallengesofthisnewenvironment.AssisttheUWNSVBoardofDirectors,itscommittees,andgeneraloperationsinmatters of policy formation, interpretation, and implementation.Leverageandcoordinateresourcestoensurestrategicalignmentintheareasof community impact, resource development, and staff alignment.SupporttheBoardintheassessmentofUnitedWay’s impact.ResourceDevelopment:Oversee fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements,developinginnovativefuturestrategies,researchingfundingsources, establishing aneffective processtoapproachingfunders, submitting proposals and grants, and overseeing fundraising records and documentation.WiththeBoardofDirectors,worktowardcampaigngrowth,fundraisingsuccessfully within the traditional campaign and planned giving channels and utilizing newer development methods and opportunities to increase giving.Utilizeeffectiveandinnovativeresourcedevelopmentstrategiesanddirect staffin planning, organizing, and executing fundraising campaigns.CommunityImpact:ProvideoverallstrategicleadershipandmanagementthatwillpositionUWNSVtoexecuteon long-term goals in education, income and health.Demonstratepersonalcommitmenttodiversityobjectives.Represent the interests of all health and human service nonprofits through advocacy effortsdesignedtoeducatecorporateandgovernmentrepresentativesoncommunity needs.Leverageimpactbysupportingandencouragingpartnershipsandcollaborations between local nonprofits.Abilitytospeakinawaythatmotivateslargeandsmallgroupstoaction.Championinnovativeapproachestowardssolvingcommunityissues.OrganizationalManagement:Buildandleadahigh performingteamandensureallteammembersarealignedand collaborating to achieve organizational results.Manage direct reports and assist direct reports in the management of their staff, assuringthatadequatetraining,support,andresourcesare inplacetoachievegoals with a focus on a coaching culture.Maintainaccountabilityfortheoperationalandfiscalintegrityoftheorganizationwithin policies set by the Board of Directors.WiththeBoard,manageorganizationalspending,monitorbudgetcompliance,and mitigate financial risk.Ensurecompliancewithallregulations,laws,andstandardsofethics.Prepare and manage UWNSV’s annual operating budget, including planning of the overallprogramexpenditures,andvariouslineitems,suchasgrants,anddesignations.Education/Experience/SkillsPreferred:(Equivalentcombinationofeducation,trainingandexperience.)Bachelor’sdegree(Masterspreferred)5Yearsfundraisingexperience,preferredinsocialserviceorganizationcapacity.3YearsleadershipexperienceExperienceworkingwithUnitedWayorexperienceleadingsimilarpublicornot-for-profit social service agency.Evidenceof highethicalandcharacterstandards.Demonstratedtrackrecordofcommunityservice,high-energyprofessional,leadership skills and committed to United Way Mission, Vision, and Values.Stronginterpersonalandcommunicationsskills.PCandtechnologyproficiency.Workunderminimumsupervision.Must complete projects in a timely manner, effectively dealing with continuous interruptions,prioritychangesandpersonalitiesinperformanceofhis/herduties.Salary & BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000 annually depending on experience, plus benefits.PhysicalRequirements:Normalofficeconditions.Employeemayoccasionallyliftand/ormoveupto10pounds.MustresideintheUWNSVservicearea.TOAPPLYPLEASESUBMITALETTEROFAPPLICATIONANDRESUMEBYMAY24.
