Pre-Construction Quantity Surveyor

Up to �70k

Fareham based with projects across the South Coast

My client who is a leading M&E Contractor based out of Hampshire is looking to recruit a Pre-Construction Quantity Surveyor.

The ideal candidate will come from a Contracting background and used to dealing with pre-contract negotiation as well as commercially leading the delivery of a fast track multi-million-pound project.

To provide full pre-construction commercial support to ensure the Project Delivery team are aware of all costs and contractual matters involved on the project. Whilst also providing support to the Commercial Director as appropriate.

What would a typical day look like?

This role provides the opportunity to be part of something that will last for generations. You will be part of a team that helps design and consult on multiple projects across our business. From residential care villages to hotels and groundbreaking innovative client projects, you will be involved throughout the process.

This will often include the following activities.

  • Post tender negotiations to take a bid to contract status.
  • Maintain contract documentation and advise on pre-tender and post contract matters.
  • Contract review and negotiation of terms
  • Post contract liaison with design team and clients
  • Sub-contract negotiation and letting
  • Cost value reconciliation reporting
  • Programme management and evaluation
  • Support the development of the team, including trainee members

About you

We are looking for a diverse range of applicants who have a real passion for the M&E industry, perhaps wanting to change careers or kick start their journey with us as one of the largest M&E business in the area.

Here are some of the qualities and qualifications we are looking for in the right person to join our team

  • HNC/HND/BSc in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Law or Business Management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High degree of personal motivation
  • Commercial acumen
  • Ability to work as part of a team supporting both the operational team and peer group.
  • Manage numerous activities across a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Eye for detail
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Flexibility with regard to working across all areas of the business, and hours to meet the requirements of this challenging position.
  • Enterprising, commercial, and planned approach
  • Willing and able to take responsibility.
  • Ability to add value to the role, department, and company as a whole.
  • Full driving licence
