As a Pre-Assessment Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing patient's health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload.
  • Undertaking electronic pre-operative assessment of patients.
  • Identifying and escalating patients of concern against the hospital's admission criteria to senior nursing staff.
  • Undertaking a full patient health assessment and triaging their pre-operative assessment requirements.
  • Assisting in the delivery of care to meet individuals' health and wellbeing needs.
  • Promoting best practice in health and safety and security.
  • Assisting in maintaining and developing services.

The ideal candidate for the Pre-Assessment Nurse role will:

  • Be a Registered Nurse with no restrictions on practice.
  • Have previous experience in a dedicated Pre-Assessment department (desirable).
  • Be used to working in teams with minimum supervision.
  • Have experience of working in an acute environment.
  • Have a surgical background (desirable).
  • Have advanced IT skills for electronic pre-operative assessment system.
  • Have phlebotomy, venepuncture and ECG skills (desirable or willing to be trained).
  • Have outstanding communication skills.
