We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified accountant (ACCA or ICAEW) to join a fast-growing firm of chartered accountants. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of limited company clients, overseeing an accounts team, and providing training and guidance to apprentices. While prior management experience is preferable, we are open to considering individuals who have not had formal management roles but demonstrate the potential to excel in such a position.
Responsibilities:
1. Portfolio Management:
Manage a portfolio of limited company clients, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality accounting services.
Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing excellent customer service and building strong professional relationships.
Review and oversee the preparation of annual accounts, VAT returns, and management accounts for assigned clients.
2. Team Management and Training:
Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to the accounts team, assisting them in their day-to-day tasks and professional development.
Help train and supervise apprentices, ensuring they receive appropriate on-the-job training and guidance to progress in their careers.
3. Client Meetings and Consultation:
Conduct client meetings, including initial consultations, to gather necessary information, understand their needs, and provide expert advice.
Confidently communicate complex accounting and tax concepts to clients, offering solutions and recommendations tailored to their specific circumstances.
Assist the accounts team in preparing basic personal tax returns for limited company clients, leveraging your personal tax experience.
Requirements:
ACCA or ICAEW qualification is essential.
Prior experience working in a practice environment is required.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
Excellent client management and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
Effective leadership and mentoring abilities, with the potential to manage a team and train apprentices.
Personal tax experience would be advantageous.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.
Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
