OT paid out after 40 hours at 1.5 hourly rate, 3% Employer Matching RRSPPosition SummaryWe are seeking experts in Rockwell/AB PLCs / HMIs and interfacing with Fanuc robots. Experience with Toyopuc, Beckhoff TwinCAT 3, and Kollmorgen would be valuable assets as well. As part of a vibrant and professional team, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing functional PLC and HMI programs, pioneering IO interfacing, and ensuring our systems meet CSA Standards. You’ll mentor emerging programmers in automation integration, program and test state-of-the-art PLCs and automated servo motion systems, and work with the latest tools and technologies.You’ll also be involved in integrating and troubleshooting control devices, while also working on IIoT devices required for key data analytics. If desired, you could also have the opportunity to work with our AGV development team, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Plus, you’ll be a crucial link within our Industry 4.0 data offerings, working with customer lineside SQL databases and providing essential programming support.Key Responsibilities:Create functional PLC and HMI Programs offline using mechanical and controls design informationDevelop and implement the communication and IO interfacing between industrial devices and systemsInstall offline programs into the machines and troubleshoot IO, communications, machine functions, errors and faults that occur within the programs with machine build teamDevelop safety PLC programs in accordance with CSA Standards for the automated systems and complete final testing with systems engineering guidance to ensure proper functionIncrease understanding of communication between machinery and functionality of custom equipment by gathering and reviewing documentation of devicesIdentify inefficiencies within the process, collaborate with the entire machine build and systems team, and implement counter measures for improvementWork with customers, project managers, designers, millwrights, and electricians to solve problems that provide customers with a complete functional systemCommission the equipment at the customer location by testing the interfacing between equipment, setting up communications between devices, performing I/O checks and completing unit testsMentor programmers of varying experience in automation integrationProgram and test single or multi-axis automated servo motion systems that are reliable and safe for industrial environments while staying within tolerance of the programmed kinematic pathIntegration & troubleshooting of controls devices at a 24v level or below while using basic electrical tools (Terminal Screwdriver, Multimeter, etc)Provide detailed operations documentation to guide customers on the machines programming and interfaceCollaborate with the AGV development team as required to further enhance and streamline this technologyDevelop and deploy IIoT solutions for machinery using either customer provided MQTT options or the default Data Analytics tools for edge/cloud computingPrepare to engage with the customer’s lineside SQL database and assist in programming handshakes for machine part data and trackingRequirementsEducation & ExperienceDegree or Diploma in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering and/or sufficient industry experience and trainingMinimum 5 years PLC experience in automation or custom machine build fieldStrong experience in independently programming machines from the ground up on new buildsPriority will be given to candidates who are familiar with Magna standards and experienceComputer Expertise: Windows10, Microsoft Office, PLC Programming software, HMI Programming softwareKnowledge of custom machine building and processes including vision, laser, assembly, welding, etcAbility to work openly in a team environment and communicate ideas and problems clearly to projects teamStrong ability to work with Allen Bradley Studio 5000 software and Factory Talk View HMI development.
