Plant Manager

Job DescriptionCHEP operates a circular economy of pallets; they’re rented out to customers and used throughout their supply chains – we then collect them and bring them back to plant. Our pallet pool is the largest in the UK and our plants process, repair and re-spray thousands of pallets per day, the Spennymoor site process up to 12,000 per day. We’re looking for someone to take the lead on our Spennymoor Plant near Durham. The site is currently in the middle of a roll-out of a new automated line and have 45 staff operating across two shifts. We’re looking for someone with operational experience who can lead strategy, people, and projects on site.You will develop a capable team to deliver all plant objectives and drive optimal performance whilst being a champion for our values; safety; customer focus; sustainability; and employee experience. Our Plant Manager will drive the strategic vision for the site and network with internal and external stakeholders.Key responsibilitiesFull site responsibility and project delivery ownershipPerformance of Durham plant operations.Ensure all Plant activity complies with CHEP Zero harm policies and H&S legislation.Mentor and develop the site Leadership TeamMaintain an accurate reporting of stock with a regular audit cycle.Drive a positive employee experience and culture on siteEnsure processes are compliant to ISO 45001 and 9001 standards.Drive employee engagement and build relationships with the unionWhat you’ll need; Prior fast-paced operational management experience in a production, manufacturing, or logisticsProven project delivery experienceExperience leading teams in a KPI and safety focused environmentAbility to build stakeholder relationshipsIdeally experience in CI applications do deliver strategic objectivesExperience with working within a unionized environment is preferableIf you feel it’s a good fit for you, please don’t wait for this advert to disappear, apply now!
