Planning Officer

Sure Start Staff are seeking an experienced Planning Officer to work in Tameside, on a temporary basis.

Employment Type: 3 months, with the possibility to extend.

Pay rate: £25.82 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: Mon-Fri, 7.20hrs per day

Location: Ashton-Under-Lyne
The role

Management of major planning application caseload, reviewing case officer reports and signing off of planning decisions under delegated authority, mentoring three case officers, contributing to weekly management team and team meeting.

Essential criteria

• Extensive and demonstrable experience in planning and development management.


• Educated to degree level in Town and Country Planning or related subject.


• Chartered Membership of RTPI or be eligible to attain full Chartered membership of the RTPI within 1 year of appointment.


• Detailed knowledge of Town and Country Planning legislation (and associated Acts), regulations and policies including EIA.


• Experience and track record of having handled major and complex pre-application enquiries and applications.


• Experience and track record of having handled planning appeals.


• Capacity to motivate and lead staff.
