Planner/Senior Planner

Location: Ewloe, North Wales

Hours: 8.30am- 5.15pm (Mon- Thurs), 8.30am- 4.00pm (Fri)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Land Identification & Appraisal:

• In liaison with the Strategic Land & Planning Director, you will identify and appraise new opportunities in accordance with the business plan. You will assist in identifying key target local authorities for the identification of new opportunities;

• You will be required to have a good understanding of planning policy at national, regional, and local levels and understand the planning and political process;

• In conjunction with the Strategic Land & Planning Director you will develop and set Planning Strategies and level of political engagement for the secured sites, so that planning consent is obtained in the quickest possible timescales when considered against the pertaining planning risk of each site;

• You will be responsible for maintaining good relationships with external consultants to ensure the Land teams are aware of any changing policy or windows of opportunity for various residential use classes.

• Accompany the land team at meetings with landowners and their agents in order to assist with securing new opportunities.

Planning Submissions:

• You will be responsible for controlling, managing and maintaining all planning applications within the division, including assembling the most appropriate consultant team.

• In liaison with the Strategic Land & Planning Director, you will be responsible for setting planning briefs to instruct external consultants, pre-app submissions, or in the case of planning appeals, Barrister Opinions;

• You may be responsible for assisting in the management of the forward land interests, ensuring sites are effectively promoted through the planning system with relevant Local Authorities in order to achieve appropriate planning consents;

• Engage in negotiations with officers, local community groups and other stakeholders at both pre-application and post-application submission stages, including attendance at meetings where necessary.

The successful candidate will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

Ideally you will have:

• Member of an accredited organisation within the built environment i.e. RTPI/MRICS

• At least 2 years’ experience post RTPI accreditation in client-side role or Planning Consultant

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent organisational skills

• Interpersonal skills

• Time management in order to meet deadlines

• Attention to detail

• Excellent numerical skills

• Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload

• Lean implementer

• Experience of residential planning preferable.
