Position Summary
Bechtel is seeking a Piping Designer experienced with modularization, modules to join the Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) discipline on a semiconductor project for a confidential client. This position falls within the Manufacturing and Technology Global Business Unit.
This role will be based in London, UK office.
Typical Responsibilities
Plans and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of design on a project. Knows applicable industry standards and codes, accepted design practices and quality standards for a global business unit.
Establishes and maintains communication with design and engineering supervisors in charge of related disciplines and with administrative personnel within the group or project.
Directly performs or administers work of designers and drafters of a design group for a business line technology. This work includes the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings. Very proficient with Hexagon S3D software or Autodesk BIM360 Revit.
Requires a broad knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, drawing checking, graphic arts, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline. (e.g. SmartSketch drawings, etc.)
Consults with equipment suppliers, technical specialists and client representatives as directed to provide and receive technical information.
Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.
Maintains up-to-date skills in Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) relevant to design work and ensures that maximum use is made thereof. Participates in the operations of a small or medium size design group. Work closely with other disciplines to organize work.
Helps the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction. Helps development of work plans and schedules for the assigned work including estimate of material quantities, design deliverables and staffing needs to meet the project milestones.
Skills and Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
AA/AS/Cert with extensive related design experience.
Must have the right to work and remain in the UK without sponsorship.
Additional Qualifications
Prior experience in modularization, module piping execution.
Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
Advance experience in the use of 3d Modelling tools; Hexagon S3D, AutoCAD Revit and Navisworks.
Must have working knowledge of engineering procedures, covering discipline deliverables, production, and control, as well as organization and responsibilities for the Engineering Department.
Thorough knowledge of business practices, project forecasting required.
Experience in resolving complex technical problems and the ability to articulate explanations, is essential.
Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills are essential.
Previous Bechtel experience.
Previous modular piping design project execution experience.
Previous experience/knowledge on semiconductor manufacturing design process (not a must).
