This makes the role of unregulated simulation indispensable in the development and optimisation of many areas of a Formula One team, particularly in Performance Engineering, where the performance targets for the car design are generated, and the on-track performance of the current season’s car is understood and optimised.This role will be focused on the development of the Team’s performance vehicle models and simulations, for use trackside, in the simulator and in offline vehicle development settings. Our goal is to produce a portfolio of cutting-edge tools across all simulation use cases. The position will involve cooperation with Performance Development, Simulator Development, Performance Software, Performance Optimisation, Race Engineering, Aerodynamics, R&D and Mechanical Design functions.Responsibilities:Development of advanced physical models of a Formula One car and its subsystemsDevelopment of simulation algorithms that exercise the high-fidelity vehicle model to enable engineers to perform complex analysisResearching new or alternative modelling and simulation methodologies to keep the department on the bleeding edgeWriting readable, maintainable, and efficient codeCommunicating with other departments to deliver projects within the TeamCandidate Profile:Competitive candidates will meet a range of the following criteria:Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline (Masters/PhD preferred)Strong problem solving and analytical skillsMotivated by finding creative and practical solutions to complex problemsAbility to work effectively within a cross-functional team, and with minimal supervisionStrong interest in topics such as numerical methods, control theory, statistics, computational methods, and nonlinear programmingCompetent with MATLAB and SimulinkExperience with common programming languages, such as C/C++Good understanding of OOP principlesExperience with Git or other source control toolsWe will be sending out a test to all candidates on Monday 15th April 2024, so please ensure you check your junk mail.Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team is committed to making sure our selection methods are fair for all.
