Join us in Shaping the Future of Ophthalmology: People Director Opportunity
Are you an experienced, strategic thinker with a passion for driving organizational growth through exceptional people practices? If so, Newmedica invites you to lead our journey towards becoming "The place we are all proud to belong in ophthalmology".
Who are we:
Newmedica is one of the leading providers of NHS-funded ophthalmology services in England. Our purpose is to change lives through better sight and eye health.
We provide services for NHS ICBs, NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts, and other providers of NHS funded services. We currently deliver over 290,000 patient interactions annually, including outpatient appointments, diagnostic testing, and eye surgery. We also have a growing private self-pay business. Our services are delivered mainly through Ophthalmology Joint Venture (OJV) Partnerships across twenty-nine sites.
We have an ambition to double the size of the business in five years, (financially and physically) across the UK to satisfy the huge demand for eye surgery and the treatment of chronic eye disease, thus making a real difference to people’s lives.
Why Join Us:
This is a rare opportunity for a driven individual seeking a career challenge and the chance to make a tangible difference in people's lives. At Newmedica, you'll be at the forefront of innovation in ophthalmology, working alongside passionate professionals dedicated to excellence.

Your mission will be to create and deliver an award-winning employee experience, ensuring that Newmedica remains at the forefront of innovation and excellence.
You'll be supported by a dynamic team of approximately 25 individuals, with access to the broader expertise of the wider Group. Collaboration will be key as you work closely with our Group counterparts to align initiatives and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Managing Director and Senior Management Team to develop and execute business strategies aligned with our growth ambitions.
Craft and implement a comprehensive people strategy tailored to our joint venture businesses, managed services, and support office functions.
Lead organizational development interventions to propel Newmedica to the next level.
Foster inclusive environments where colleagues are valued for their differences and supported to perform at their best.
Oversee People assurance across the organization, ensuring compliance and addressing any non-compliance issues promptly.
The Ideal Candidate:
Proven track record of developing and executing successful people strategies in a multi-site, fast-growing business.
Experience leading teams through high-growth periods, with a knack for developing talent.
While experience in a clinical environment and knowledge of NHS policies are advantageous, curiosity and a willingness to learn are equally valued.
Exceptional leadership, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to motivate and engage individuals and teams.
Previous board or senior leadership team experience in a large organization preferred.
Ability to adapt leadership style to work effectively with joint venture partners and support office colleagues.
If you're ready to lead transformative change and shape the future of ophthalmic care, apply now to join us on this exciting journey.
