My client is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team, this position is a busy role within a friendly environment.
Duties of Payroll Officer:
* To ensure that all weekly and monthly payrolls that you have responsibility for are processed in accordance with statutory and company rules and within the required timescales.
* Support the administration of colleagues in company pension schemes, including the Master Trust and auto-enrolment schemes.
* Work with Payroll Lead to ensure that statutory deductions are correctly made and accounted for and that all statutory returns, including those for taxable benefits, are produced within the required deadlines.
* Ensure that non-statutory deductions made on behalf of colleagues are accounted for and returns, including payment, are made to the appropriate organisations.
* Provide excellent customer service, manage and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure colleagues are paid correctly.
* To be proactive in taking the initiative to review and make suggestions to improve processes and procedures relating to payroll
* Support Payroll Lead with ad hoc projects and activities.
* To carry out any other duties or ad hoc tasks that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties.
Essential:
* Have a very strong understanding of the full payroll process
* Organised and accurate with attention to detail
* An ability to work to pre-set timeliness
* An organised and methodical approach to work
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal
* Solid experience within a hands-on Payroll role
* Able to manage own workload while achieving deadlines
* Good systems skills including MS Excel, Sage
