The Pathology department is currently undergoing many IT improvement projects and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual with project experience to work alongside the Trust IT team to implement a new LIMS system. This role is for 1 year fixed term.
Job Description
To take responsibility as directed by the Pathology IT and Data Manager for efficient performance of the Pathology Laboratory Information System and associated IT Systems
To extract data and produce as directed, reports and informaiton from IT systems
To provide technical assistance and advice in the use and proposed use of hardware, applications and systems software
To support the provision of assessment and recommendations regarding the implementation of new technologies to the department through research and contact with external suppliers
Review OneDorset & UHS Path Manager Path Manager reports
Understand PHU Cognos reports
Identify where we can harmonise with existing WPE Path Manager reports
Build reports in Path Manager
Testing
Training/document writing on Path Manager configuration and usage
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
BSc in IT/Biomedical Sciences or relevant equivalent knowledge.
Demonstrable experience of working with minimal supervision role within hospital laboratory or IT environment
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Information Systems and IT applications relating to a Pathology service and healthcare delivery.
DESIRABLE
Registration with the Health professional Council (HPC)
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
ESSENTIAL
Ability to solve highly complex problems in a methodical and logical manner
Ability to work across organisational boundaries
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Ability to prioritise and manage constant and often conflicting demands
Ability to communicate highly complex IT and pathology related issues verbally and in writing
Expert in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Awareness of and ability to apply principles of Clinical Governance, Caldicott and Data Protection Act
Knowledge and understanding of Reporting Tools software for extraction of workload information
DESIRABLE
Knowledge of network and hospital information systems

ESSENTIAL
An understanding of the political sensitivities of the Trust
Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and trustworthiness.
A willingness to be flexible and part of a team.
Ability to demonstrate a high degree of concentration and attention to detail
Deal calmly and politely with members of hospital staff who are working in areas of extreme pressure
Ability to juggle many priorities at one time, whilst remaining calm
