Pastoral care has become a vital service within Education. At Smile Education Northwest we have seen a significant demand for this provision across all of our schools. They are focused on providing support, mentoring and care for the physical and mental wellbeing of their students.
We are currently working alongside a busy secondary setting in north Manchester to support with the recruitment of a Pastoral Mentor. Within this role you will operate a centralised student support hub, offering mentoring and counselling to students who may not have that support outside of school hours. The successful applicant will be working closely with the Pastoral Lead and Deputy Headteacher, co-ordinating the support provision to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and by extension raising standards of behaviour across school. This is full-time role due to start in April 2024 with an expected salary range from £100-140 per day, depending on experience.
What to expect from applicants?
We would like applicants to have a background in managing caseloads. Applicants from backgrounds such as Family Liaison, Social Care, Support Workers, and Prison Service are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be confident in their approach to managing behaviour and feel comfortable with making visits to pupils home and working as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team. Graduates from degree’s such as Social Work are also encouraged to apply.

To be successful in your application, you should have experience in one or more of the following:
-        A background in a similar or transferrable field, such as Social Care, Prison or Probation Service and Family Liaison officers. Graduates from similar degree fields are also encouraged to apply.
-         Confident in their approach to handling caseloads and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
-        Able to manage behaviour in a confident and approachable manner
-        Comfortable in making home visits where necessary
