Pay Rate: £11.59 - £13.94  per hour

Hours: Part-time, 10 hours per week, The working hours of 07.00am - 10.00am and 14.00am-17.00am Monday to Friday. Initial contract is 5 months.

Main Duties of the Passenger Assistant:


  • Assist children and young people with specific and complex needs during their journey to and from educational establishments or between different educational institutions.
  • Ensure the welfare and safety of children and young people throughout the journey, including handover to authorised school staff or parents and carers.
  • Provide cover for Personal Assistants (PAs) unable to work..
  • Availability for last-minute cover arrangements during the day, which could involve short-term or longer-term assignments.
  • Encounter diverse student needs and gain valuable experience while accompanying students to schools across Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall.
  • Receive compensation for hours worked and undergo one day of classroom training before accompanying a PA on a route.

Requirements of the Passenger Assistant:


  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Recent Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and two references.
