IBB’s Commercial Services Group provides a range of legal services to corporate and SME clients throughout the Thames Valley. The Group’s lawyers are structured into teams providing advice and representation in the following disciplines:Charities LawEmployment Law and Business ImmigrationCorporate and Commercial Legal supportParks Marinas and LeisureThe Commercial Dispute Resolution Team deal with all types of general business (contractual) and boardroom disputes, franchising, and insolvency, using a range of dispute resolution processes, including negotiation, litigation and mediation. The Team consists of four lawyers. It is highly ranked in the leading legal directories in its region.The Franchising team works closely with the firm’s other commercial teams acting for clients ranging from start-up companies to large institutions, including UK and overseas private and public companies. Our franchise focus is UK-wide and we act for around 100 UK franchisors, plus multi-unit multi-brand franchisees, associations and groups.This is a new role, designed to provide support to a busy and growing team in pursuit of IBB’s vision. It will involve working closely with all members of the team to provide support on client, document, matter and financial management as well as providing professional and practice development support.
Key Responsibilities
Storing documents and emails on IBB’s electronic files to include scanning and printing where necessary.Attending internal and external (client) meetings where appropriate and preparing notes/minutes where required.Monitoring forthcoming changes to litigation procedure and procedure; participating in training.Providing marketing and business development support as required, CRM data input and providing support for list/task management.Working on document filing, analysis and related disclosure in major litigation, including using e-disclosure platforms.
Person Specification
QualificationsGood GCSE standard (or equivalent) with grade A - C in English Language and MathsA-Levels (or equivalent)Post graduate level (preferably law) and/or LPC (or equivalent) Skills and ExperiencesA minimum of 6 months in a Paralegal role, preferably undertaking Litigation work or within Commercial ServicesGood working knowledge and experience of the use of e-disclosure platforms.Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to use own initiative, plan tasks and work to deadlinesStrong literacy, numeracy and technological skillsAdvanced working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PDF programmesSome knowledge of legal (civil) procedure gained through practical work experience or study (essential)Reliable, adaptable and flexible: able to embrace change. Is responsive to different ways of working and learns new tasks quickly. Prepared to undertake all tasks as required by the role with a positive “can do” attitude.Excellent work ethic and commitment to a career in lawAble to demonstrate confidentiality and personal integrity in all aspects of workAble to work collaboratively with others to achieve a task and to build and sustain good working relationships
