P&C Design Engineer

Our client is a global multi-disciplinary consultancy business, supporting clients across a range of sectors, including the UK energy sector.� As this sector works towards a Net Zero Carbon target, our client is supporting organisations in power generation, transmission & distribution, including onshore & offshore wind energy and HVDC interconnectors.
P&C Design Engineers / Protection & Control Design Engineers
The P&C Design Engineers will work on a hybrid basis within the Energy Networks team, based out of Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Epsom or Leeds.
You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:

• • Carrying out the FEED and detail design works including the protection and control aspects of different projects including SLD ,schematics, wiring diagrams, functional specifications, setting reports, coordination and discrimination studies, telecom , network architecture, SCS,� cable sizing and voltage drop, LVAC and LVDC load calculations and sizing, and technical specification for P&C equipment , battery and UPS systems under the supervision of senior and principal engineers and quality assurance process.
  • Coordinate with other engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required.
  • Support in the technical aspects of technical offers and tenders from a P&C perspective.
  • Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required under the supervision of senior and principal engineers.
  • Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes.

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to HND or degree level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (Chartered Engineer status through the IET is desirable), with relevant experience in a similar Protection and Control role for HV substations, power distribution or transmission projects.
You will have:

• • Experience with a transmission network company, distribution network company or design consultancy delivering work packages for such network companies or a developer of transmission, distribution or generation assets.
  • Good knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites when required.
  • Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.

Desirable Criteria:

• • HVDC design experience.
  • Commissioning Experience.
