Role: Outdoor Education Support Assistant
Salary: �375 - �425 per week
Location: Stockport
Start Date: April Start
Contract: Full-time, Long-term contract

Simply Education is working with a School in Stockport seeking a sports coach to work in a mixed Primary and Secondary SEMH setting in Stockport. As a Sports Coach you will be responsible for building rapport and inspiring students to reengage with their learning. Students in the School are between the ages of 7 and 16. Students in the setting have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school support young people on the autism spectrum and young people with ADHD, dyspraxia and dyslexia.

The role:

We are looking for someone to work in the therapeutic provision of the School alongside an outdoor education instructor. You will support with learning outside the classroom, in the garden and support with animal care. The role will include a combination of general Teaching assistant duties with an element of sports on specific days and a lot of outdoor learning. You will be responsible for supporting students on a 1:1 basis or as part of a small group.

Our students do have varied special educational needs including Autism and ADHD. As a result, there can be rare incidences of behaviour when our students become overwhelmed. Therefore, it is important that you are patient, empathetic and nurturing in your approach. Successful candidates must be resilient and understanding of students arising needs.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work with the students' Teacher to deliver high-quality bespoke learning opportunities that focus on the students' interests and vocational studies, as well as functional skills in English and Maths.
- Support the students to become re-engaged with their learning.
- Model and promote high behaviour expectations.
- Communicate effectively and build rapport and common interests with the students to inspire and motivate them.
- Work closely with the students' Teacher to Prepare the students for life beyond school.

Key Requirements:

- An understanding of working with students who have Autism.
- Knowledge and understanding of vocational education.
- Resilience and the ability to model and promote high behaviour expectations.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Driving license and access to own transport is desirable.
