Organisational Development Advisor

Based in Hessle

£17.64 per hour

Monday to Friday - 8:30 -16:30

Reporting to the Organisational Development Manager the post holder will contribute to and support the delivery of the OD agenda across the Service.

Responsibilities will include:

Organisation Development

  • Embedding a positive and enabling culture aligned with the Services principles and behaviours and driving a high performing, successful learning organisation
  • Contributing to and conducting research and providing solutions to embed new ways of working
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of organisational development and change management processes and interventions that support the Services Strategic Plan
  • Contributing towards and delivering on key change programmes
  • Contributing to the design, delivery and facilitation of OD interventions across the Service
  • Organisation and design of training courses and workshops
  • Organisation of in house events including workshops and away days as required

On-Boarding & Induction Workforce Planning

  • Contributing to the delivery and review of onboarding and induction programmes for new and promoted employees which equip them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to become effective in their role

Performance Management

  • Monitoring the Performance Management Framework

Talent Development and Succession Planning

  • Working with the Organisational Development Manager to deliver talent development strategies, and partner with HR Service Partners and other key stakeholders to identify leadership and development needs and skills gaps across the Service providing practical solutions
  • Contributing towards the delivery and implementation of talent solutions
  • Developing and managing talent metrics

Leadership Development

  • Supporting the Organisational Development Manager in delivering a leadership development suite of programmes
  • Provide research and benchmarking information on best practice solutions to develop leadership

Employee Engagement, Culture and Values Development

  • Contributing to and delivering engagement initiatives
  • Working closely with Corporate Communications to design and deliver employee engagement activities
  • Supporting the Organisational Development Manager/Station Managers with the design and rollout of the staff engagement surveys including working on robust action plans
  • Contributing to embedding the Services principles and behaviours

Equality & Inclusion

  • Supporting the OD Manager in implementing the HFRS Equality & Inclusion Strategy across the service
  • Reviewing and providing information on associated policies, equality & inclusion schemes, codes of practices and other processes as appropriate

Knowledge and Skills

  • Current knowledge of basic OD practice, related developments and their effective implementation
  • CIPD level 5 diploma in HRD or equivalent or prepared to work towards
  • Knowledge and skills in developing and delivery of training, coaching and facilitating workshops
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with senior managers, line managers and other stakeholders across multiple teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral with experience of writing for and presenting to stakeholders at many levels, e.g. staff, line managers, senior managers and Elected Members
  • Analytical skills in assessing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative information from a wide range of sources
  • Coaching skills
  • Ability to influence and challenge appropriately
  • Self-motivated, works autonomously using own initiative seeking advice and guidance from line manager as appropriate
  • Working as part of the wider OD team
  • Strong IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Demands

  • Work to pre-determined deadlines for the production of reports and research information. These may be subject to change due to the complexities of particular projects as identified by the post holder
  • Work subject to management of conflicting deadlines, e.g. policy development programmes versus short-term project work requiring immediate action
  • Need to re-prioritise work to meet demands from senior management and immediate line management
  • Work with parties who may be in dispute or distress to facilitate resolution

Physical Demands

  • All duties can be performed with normal physical effort

Working Conditions

  • The majority of work performed will be in an office environment
