A vibrant secondary school in Oxford is seeking an experienced Operations Manager. This is an exciting time to join the school, part of a wider trust of 28 primary and secondary schools in Oxfordshire and Swindon.



The Operations Manager will be key in supporting the school's Strategic Leadership Team with responsibilities for site and premises management, health and safety, operations and GDPR compliance, with line management of the HR Manager and Finance Manager, linking closely with the Trust Central Team.



This varied and diverse role includes:




  • Developing a long-term strategic building and maintenance plan.

  • Be responsible for and project manage initiatives relating to buildings, facilities, furniture and equipment, including procurement, insurance and budgetary responsibility.

  • Overseeing the lettings of school premises, being accountable for the oversight of the security and safety of the buildings and site, including statutory access and safety obligations.

  • Line managing and performance managing the Site Management team including grounds maintenance and cleaning.

  • Managing tenders where appropriate, conducting due diligence, benchmarking and evaluating suppliers, negotiating deals and ensuring value for money.

  • Acting as the school's Health and Safety Coordinator, organizing all health and safety audit visits and compliance controls.



The successful candidate will possess a certificate or diploma in School Business Management, backed with CPD/qualification in occupational health and safety. You will bring substantial experience of leading and managing people in multi-disciplinary teams, ideally within a school environment. A practical knowledge of financial and budget management will be critical, together with business planning and organisational management. You will manage multiple workstreams successfully and efficiently whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner and lead dynamically at an operational level.
