Operations Manager
Based Cargo, Carlisle
Mon-Fri 8.30am – 5pm

As an OperationsManager at BSW Timber Sawmills Carlisle, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production process, ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of the facility. You will lead a team of skilled operators and supervisors, guiding them towards achieving production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate all aspects of the production process, from log intake to finished product dispatch, ensuring optimal efficiency and productivity.
Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demands and achieve production targets.
Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of operators and supervisors, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
Monitor production performance, analyze data, and implement strategies to optimize production output, reduce waste, and control costs.
Collaborate closely with other departments, such as maintenance, logistics, and quality control, to streamline operations.
Continuously evaluate and enhance production processes, seeking opportunities for automation, technology adoption, and operational excellence.
About You:
Proven experience as a Operations Manager or similar role within a manufacturing or sawmill environment.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team.
In-depth knowledge of production processes, machinery, and systems within Manufacturing.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety.
Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with the ability to interpret and leverage production data for process improvements.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
