In 2023 we saw biotechnology innovation reach new heights with investment pouring in from government agencies, venture capitalists, research grants, corporate partnerships and others with a large portion of this investment landing with us here on the Science Park!

Scientific manufacturing is one area that we have been working hard to support our clients with and this new business, who are focused entirely on the manufacturing of biologics, are wanting to ramp their growth up rapidly as we move towards the end of Q1.

The team are looking for a Chief Operations Officer to help organise their new office here in Cambridge and run operations full time from this new office.

This hire is integral to the organising the fast paced work that the Cambridge team are doing, and the following skills are essential.

  • Chemical Engineering degree (an understanding of chemical engineering is important because of the exposure you’ll get to external stakeholders, investors and manufacturing partners)
  • 5+ years in a similar role either managing operations for a start-up in biotech or heading up the operations function for a similarly sized manufacturing & scientific business.
  • A good understanding of regulatory affairs (you’ll help to run regulatory inspections so experience having done this before is ideal)
  • Knowledge of FDA, EMA and HMRA
  • A strong understanding when it comes to scientific R&D

Lastly it should be mentioned that this is a start-up, hungry to make their idea work and prove their value to the world so there will be times that you’ll need to really dig in with the team around you. They are flexible with working hours but this will be on-site at the new office in Cambridge.

If you are a leader having worked in operations specifically in a scientific manufacturing start-up… They would really love a chat.
