Role overview
As a 1st Line Support Engineer, you will be providing on-site technical support to OryxAlign’s diverse client base. The Support Engineer will have a 1st line skill set in network, telephony, wireless, backup, server, and desktop administration. Along with desk side support, having exceptional communication skills, attention to detail and working to a very high standard. 1st Line Support Engineers role includes working and operating at best practice standard in day-to-day and ongoing engineering activities.
1st Line Support Engineers are based on client site and at the company’s head office in the City of London. You must be prepared to travel as part of your daily job, whilst most of our clients are locates within London occasional travel to remote client sites may be required. The role is hybrid so whilst not attending client site, time will be spent support our Service Desk and activities directed by the Service Delivery Manager.
The 1st Line Support Engineer role is focused upon the day-to-day delivery of IT support services and onsite administration for OryxAlign clients which needs to be completed in an effective manner with good attention to detail, accuracy and good ticket management skills. The nature of our business requires a high level of flexibility, common-sense and initiative.
What we need from our 1st Line Support Engineers:
You will be competent and confident in the administration and fault finding of the below technologies and to have 2-3 years’ experience Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 Desktop OS
Microsoft Azure and Office 365
Basic Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS
Basic networking Experience (routers, switches & firewalls)
Data Backup Technologies
Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, VoIP and PBX systems
Experience with various Anti-Virus or EDR technologies – deploying and troubleshooting
Good understanding and troubleshooting of 3rd party LOB Applications
Good knowledge of MSP RMM toolsets, particularly ConnectWise Automate
Excellent knowledge of Ticketing systems, particularly ConnectWise Manage
Work to SLA thresholds for incident(s) and service request(s)
You will also need to demonstrate:
Experience of hardware troubleshooting and problem solving.
Ability to quickly learn new applications and technologies
Able to install, configure, upgrade and relocate hardware, software and print devices.
Administer backups and restores
Standard business apps (Office, Adobe, etc).
Network trouble shooting, general WAN/ LAN trouble shooting
Good experience with standard server hardware and software.
MSP Experience
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Able to prioritise and schedule own workload.
Administration and update of technical records
Qualifications
Essential – Any Microsoft 365 cert / Azure cert.
Essential – Any desktop support certification.
Desirable – Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Desirable – ITILv3 or V4 foundation
