Occupational Therapist

Eden Brown Synergy has an exciting permanent, full time opportunity for an Occupational Therapist (Band7), experienced in specialist brain injury rehabilitation services for in-patients in the South East London region

The role is full time on 37.5 hours work week

The Occupational Therapist (Band 7) would form part of a therapy team supporting specialist cognitive-behavioural units that provide specialist treatments to patients with physical and cognitive impairment resulting from acquired, traumatic brain injury.

The Occupational Therapist (Band 7) would be responsible to:

• Deputise for the Lead Occupational Therapist when required and be a focal point of the team within the Blackheath community.
• Develop, carry out, and generalise safe, innovative, evidence-based treatments, underpinned by the principles of neuroplasticity and motor re-learning.
• Plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload.
• Assist the MDT in diagnosis, problem formulation and planning of rehabilitation programmes.
• Function as a Key Worker/Named Therapist to ensure active coordination and management of the therapeutic programme to achieve the agreed rehabilitation goals.
• Play a key role in planning safe discharges.
• Prescribe and provide equipment for our patients during their rehabilitation journey.
• Provide intervention as part of an MDT approach and be involved in MDT service developments.
• Maintain records and clinical notes in line with company policy and RCOT guidelines.
• Ensure effective and timely communication at all levels (with patients, families, the MDT and external agencies).
• Develop and deliver in-service education and training programme for the wider MDT.
• Supervise junior members of staff such as Band 6 therapists, assistants, and students.
• Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights

To quality for this Occupational Therapist (Band 7)role you would have:

• An active HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
• RCOT registration
• Previous experience as an Occupational Therapist (Band 6, equivalence of Band 7 experience) in a neurological rehabilitation setting
• Previous specialist experience supporting patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke and spinal cord injury
