Job Description
Hampshire Cricket Board (HCB) are recruiting a new Non-Executive Financial Director to join its diverse board. We would like to hear from individuals who can bring a range of attributes and experiences and are passionate about representing the interests of communities across Hampshire.HCB are the governing body of recreational cricket in the county and are one of 39 County Cricket Boards/Foundations in the country. We are responsible for developing grassroots cricket and supporting local communities in Hampshire. We are a member’s organisation and work with our member cricket clubs and a range of partners, including Hampshire Cricket Company Ltd, Hampshire Cricket Foundation, Southern Premier Cricket League, Hampshire Cricket League and community organisations to provide a cricketing future for all.Our StrategyOur diverse range of activities are designed to provide playing and volunteering opportunities for men, women, boys, girls, and people with disabilities. We aim to achieve this by working towards four strategic outcomes:• Women and Girls - support all clubs to provide inspiring playing and volunteering opportunities for women and girls.• Schools and Junior Cricket - provide a cricket offer that is relevant to every primary school• Making Cricket Accessible - ensure under-represented groups have equal opportunities to play cricket• Clubs and Leagues - maximise the amount of cricket played through a variety of formats, flexibility and minimising administrationFurther information about Hampshire Cricket Board, including our Strategy – Play it Forward, together with our most recent Annual Report can be found on www.hampshirecricketboard.com.Job Title: Non-Executive Financial DirectorTerm: 3 years which, upon review, can be extended to 3 consecutive termsTime Commitment: Circa 2-3 days per month, inclusive of quarterly board meetings, committee meetings, meeting preparation, plus some other engagements and inputRemuneration: Non-remunerated with paid expensesThe Finance Director will play a crucial role in supporting the Cricket Development Director and advising the board regarding important strategic financial decisions.Responsibilities• To provide leadership and objectivity, promoting and enhancing cricket development to every part of the community served by the Hampshire Cricket Board• Providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the company’s financial commitments are met• To ensure the Board’s financial controls are robust and defensible, in line with existing policies Hampshire Cricket Board Ltd, March 2024• To support the annual review of Hampshire Cricket Board’s financial performance• To present annual accounts to the Board and at the AGM• To provide guidance and support for financial reporting and business plans• To offer an informed contribution in strategy formation• To help connect the company with potentially useful networks• To share the legal responsibilities and duties of the company• To represent the interests of the membersThe PersonWe welcome and encourage applications from applicants with the skills, knowledge and expertise to support our goals and governance needs. Previous board experience is not essential and we will provide support to develop new members with the ambition, talent, and commitment to enable us to achieve our objectives.Whilst a passion for cricket would be beneficial, an appreciation and enthusiasm for the impact of sport and a willingness to get to know our sport will be critical.Key Skills and Experience• Extensive senior level accountancy experience, likely to be a qualified accountant• Significant leadership experience• Good inter-personal skills• Effective communicator with employees, directors and club volunteers• Experience of working with similar sized organisations• No legal bar to act as a director of a companyPersonal Qualities and Attributes• A collaborative, collegiate and inclusive leadership style• A strong personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and a passion for increasing the accessibility and inclusivity of the game• A keen strategic eye, particularly in respect to finance and income generationAs a Non-Executive Director, you must not be• A full-time paid employee of Hampshire Cricket Board Ltd• A professional advisor to Hampshire Cricket Board Ltd• A supplier of Hampshire Cricket Board LtdIn addition, you must not engage in activities that place Hampshire Cricket Board Ltd or its members at risk in terms of finance or reputation.
