AWE is currently recruiting professional individuals with a thorough knowledge of Ultrasonic Testing used within Non-Destructive Testing. NDT at AWE is a growing organisation where we welcome candidates from the aerospace, oil and gas, nuclear, rail and military sectors, ideally with an engineering background. We are looking for those individuals who are certified as a Level 3 in Ultrasonics (EN4179/PCN/ SNT/ASNT/NAS410) to apply. If however, you consider yourself a subject matter expert in the ultrasonics field, but missing the certification, then we are very much interested in you too!

All training will be provided as well as a career progression towards formal NDT qualification to advance your career as a non-destructive testing professional. Our ultrasonics inspections we use pulse echo, time of flight diffraction (TOFD) and phased array. If any of these areas is within your skillset or simply within your ambition to learn, then we welcome your application. This role will be hands-on in the testing of warhead products, to inspect, develop, innovate, and validate future inspections and advise on capability that is fit for nuclear weapon inspection. Non-Destructive Testing NDT

Salary - negotiable, depending on skills and experience.

Location - Reading/Basingstoke Area.

Closing date - 11th April 2024.

Duties to include:

  • Advise the customer with the most suitable NDT techniques to inspect the part.
  • Develop and implement Ultrasonic techniques and work instructions.
  • Carry out the necessary support functions to support the Safe Systems of Work associated with NDT activities.
  • Produce or support the team with the delivery of written technical assessments.
  • Engage with the wider team, relevant AWE stakeholders and other functions to enhance inspection techniques.
  • Work to company deadlines and targets.
  • Continuous professional development to maintain formal NDT certification and to enhance current portfolio of NDT qualifications.
