No. 2 to General Counsel, South Yorks (hybrid)Hays Legal is exclusively instructed by this organisation seeking to appoint a number 2 to the GC & Co Sec. This appointment is a key strategic hire at an exciting time for this organisation due to massive transformation and investment and would suit an experienced lawyer (5/6+ to more senior) with a strong commercial contracts background, gained in-house or in private practice.Reporting to the General Counsel, you will enjoy finding commercial solutions and having a results-orientated approach.Day to day responsibilities include:Supporting the GC in providing legal advice and counsel to the key senior stakeholders on a broad range of legal matters, including contracts, commercial transactions, employment law, data privacy, intellectual property and regulatory compliance. Also involvement in potential disputes.Co Sec support (not essential to have as experience can be gained in role)Responsible for the day-to-day managing and supervising of a junior lawyerTraining - designing and delivering training on legal and regulatory mattersInvolvement in managing external legal relationships with law firms and other advisorsProactively identifying and mitigating legal risksStaying up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations, ensuring the organisation remains compliant.Helping to develop and implement legal policies and procedures.Contributing to the development and execution of overall business from a legal perspective.This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level to senior lawyer seeking a pivotal role within an organisation.You will have significant general legal experience, having advised on a range of commercial contracts. You will be able to evidence a strong track record of your ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and partnerships both internally and externally.This is a fabulous opportunity for a lawyer seeking a wide-ranging and stimulating role within a fast-moving and collegiate environment. Lawyers working 4 or 5 days a week are equally of interest.
