A Night Shift manager role for candidates with FMCG or food industry production background.

Shift Pattern: Sunday to Thursday - 22:00 - 06:00

This is a key role in production working to tight deadlines. The attraction here is a business in growth who are adding to their production team and need ambitious individuals to join the site who want to develop themselves and make that next step in their production career.

Some good progress has been made but there is a need to keep driving forward with continuous improvement working closely with the teams, being hands-on on the shop floor motivating and engaging the production teams. There is some great experience in the Senior Leadership team offering opportunities for personal development, growth and mentorship. Due to the nature of the factory you need to be agile, versatile and able to prioritise effectively leading your shift daily with CI and raising standards constantly on the agenda.

What will the role involve?

  • Effective leadership and management of a busy shift.
  • Working closely with the team communicating with clarity around the KPI's and what is required daily to deliver consistent improvements.
  • Focus on engagement and motivation developing accountability across the team.
  • Ensure the detail is looked into daily on the factory floor to eliminate blockers and unwanted surprises!
  • Driving continuous improvement at the same time as the transactional day to day activities.
  • Collate and interpret the relevant data for fact-based decision making.
  • Drive team work across other functions for full collaboration across the factory.
  • Ensuring the effective safe and productive running of the shift.

We need candidates who can show:

  • Leading teams through involvement and setting the right example and high standards in time pressured manufacturing environments.
  • KPI's are woven into your 'production' fabric. You communicate and display them clearly and educate the shift, so they know not just what needs doing but why and the impact of their activity.
  • Detailed understanding of the need to comply with all HSE regulations and conveying that daily to your team.
  • Looking to improve efficiencies in every process - driving your team through clear communication, accountability, and education.
  • Genuine interest in the people in the team and an understanding of the demands they are under.
  • You understand the food industry or FMCG for the pace and ability to think at speed.
  • Positive and upbeat attitude.
  • Listening skills - when did you implement a good idea that came from the shop floor because you took the time to hear it?
  • Taking pride in the shift, striving to have the top performing shift.
  • Conducts effective handovers and embeds processes and procedures that mean shifts work together to achieve results. Understanding how critical the 'golden hour' is.

The team are hardworking and eager but need the leadership and knowledge to implement new processes and deliver the necessary improvements to meet the increased demand.
