Role Overview:

The School is seeking an inspirational and dynamic Head of Music to lead their thriving Music Department. The successful candidate will be a passionate educator with a vision to cultivate and nurture musical talent across all age groups and abilities. The Head of Music will play a pivotal role in developing the school's musical culture, enhancing their curriculum, and fostering a love for music among students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Music Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a diverse and inclusive music curriculum that caters to a wide range of musical interests and abilities.
  • Organise and direct musical performances, concerts, and school events, showcasing student talent.
  • Oversee the provision of individual and group instrumental lessons.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging environment that motivates students to achieve their musical potential.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate music into the wider school curriculum and activities.
  • Manage departmental resources and budgets effectively.
  • Stay updated with current trends and developments in music education.

Candidate Profile:

  • A degree in Music or a related field, with a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience in leading a successful Music Department or equivalent leadership experience in a musical educational setting.
  • Demonstrable expertise in teaching music across various age groups and abilities.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A commitment to promoting the arts and enhancing the cultural life of the school.
  • Proficiency in a range of musical instruments and genres is highly desirable.
