This role is located within our factory units in Basingstoke, with travel to our sites at Houndmills, Sherrington and Viables which offers a variety of different challenges and working environments.
LevertonHELM currently manufactures approximately 20-30 inorganic Lithium chemical products, processing several thousand tonnes of high value raw materials a year which are shipped to a worldwide customer base of industrial end users.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will support our production facilities by providing a professional, high quality engineering service along with performing day-to-day plant upkeeping, including reactive and preventive maintenance.
You will also support new and existing pilot plant work, undertake reconditioning of plant equipment, and support the development and implementation of new production equipment.
This is a hands-on role, involving physical activity, working at height and accessing confined spaces Full training will be given where required.
A close working relationship with personnel at all sites is required. This position requires working effectively as part of the team involved in the day-to-day maintenance of production plant and equipment, and alongside the operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Maintenance Manager, Chemical Engineers and Senior control systems engineer with new mechanical engineering developments and implementation including production methods, process flow, selection of machinery, equipment, components, fabrication and tooling.
Be responsible for preventative, reactive and scheduled maintenance regimes of plant equipment and electrical maintenance across our site(s)
Assist / lead on new mechanical engineering projects including new installations, modifications to existing plant / processes, which includes design, fabrication procurement, installation, commissioning and debugging.
Independently manage minor and medium size mechanical engineering projects as required and to budget.
Identify mechanical improvements with a strong focus on safety, execute mechanical improvement projects from start to finish and support with pilot plant activities as required.
Review and implement risk assessments
Supervise contractors and other personnel on specific jobs and tasks.
Report and action on Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality related faults, failures and non-conformances.
Maintaining stock of components, fittings, spares, fasteners and liaising with suppliers.
Skills
Hold a relevant engineering qualification and or equivalent job experience
Can-do, proactive attitude
Demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering
Hydraulic / Pneumatic / Generator systems
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to fault find quickly and efficiently
Good understanding of technical diagrams and drawings
Continuous improvement mindset
Ability to coach others
Desirable
Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques
Knowledge of welding processes TiG & MiG and brazing
Knowledge of fluid power
Knowledge of workshop equipment
ATEX (CompEx) awareness or qualified
Knowledge of chiller units / Compressed air systems
IOSH
Confined space trained
Forklift
MEWP
