Mechanical Service Engineer Location: Reading, UK Type: Permanent Salary:
The Role: We are seeking a mechanically biased Engineer to undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and repairs of mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as building fabric tasks at a client site in Reading. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Pumps, Heating systems, AHUs, Water systems, and Legionella Control. Day to Day Responsibilities:
Perform planned and reactive maintenance tasks as directed by the Supervisor, including water hygiene and plant inspections, plumbing, filter changes, and other mechanical duties. Update completed PPM tasks on the site's computerized maintenance system. Maintain engineering standards to maximize the operational effectiveness and reliability of plant and associated systems. Coordinate specialist subcontractors' requirements for both PPM and reactive works. Adhere to company QA and site procedures in all aspects of work. Ensure compliance with Company & Site Health & Safety procedures at all times. Maintain accurate site records/documentation associated with all site works. Inspect the condition of services and proactively deal with callouts/repairs as required. Attend site emergencies outside of normal working hours as part of the on-call rota. Conduct tasks within plantroom environments and at high levels, utilizing platforms and ladders provided. Safely keep and maintain all company-issued tools. Actively contribute to the success and support of the contract with a positive approach. Complete any other associated tasks as requested by management.
Skills & Experience:
City & Guilds in Building Services Engineering or Plumbing Installation/Maintenance, or equivalent qualification. City & Guilds Refrigerant, Safe Handling certification. ACS/Gas Safe qualifications. Minimum 5 - 10 years of practical experience within the building services engineering industry. Previous experience working within a team environment. Completion of a time-served apprenticeship. Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office and Building Management Systems.
