Motor Mechanics Teacher
Location: London SW17
Salary: Inner London Teachers Pay Scale (Unqualified/Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale + SEN (Dependant on experience and qualifications)
Our client is a special school in Wandsworth for 120 boys aged 5 to 19 with social emotional and mental health needs.
Primary pupils benefit from a purpose-built classroom hub and outdoor adventure playground and access to weekly music lessons and a comprehensive therapy service. Secondary and post-16 students are offered a broad curriculum including vocational courses such as motor vehicle studies, construction, horticulture and hospitality. All pupils benefit from regular animal therapy at Toms Farm, which is located on the spacious school site.
The Role
The education and welfare of designated classes or groups of learners in accordance with the requirements of Conditions of Employment of School Teachers, having due regard to the Nightingale Community Academys aims, objectives, schemes of work, and policies.
To share in the corporate responsibility for the wellbeing and pastoral care of all learners.
To carry out any reasonable instructions given by the Principal or Senior Leadership Team.
Skills & Experience
Qualified Teacher Status (or QTS anticipated)
Recent successful experience of working with and/or teaching learners with special educational needs within a school setting.
Proven track record in developing and implementing a successful Citizenship curriculum for Secondary school.
Proven ability to demonstrate excellent classroom practice.
Proven ability in working successfully as part of a staff team.
Evidence of knowing how to evaluate ones own strengths and weaknesses. Evidence of effective partnership working with parents and carers
Knowledge and experience of current good practice and curriculum developments in special and mainstream primary education provision.
Knowledge of how the National Curriculum Programmes of Study can guide curriculum planning.
Knowledge of child development.
More extensive knowledge of and/or interest in at least one curriculum area.
Knowledge of successful practice in teaching learners on the autistic spectrum or social, emotional mental health including the ability to promote appropriate behaviour.
Firm commitment to ones own continuing professional development.
