MICROBIOLOGY LEADER
LOCATION:
Swindon
SALARY:
£46,000 plus 12% Bonus
WAY OF WORKING:
Full time onsite – 8am – 4pm

Our Pharmaceutical Systems (PS) team provides a wide range of pre-fillable syringes, self-injection systems, safety systems, and needle technologies to meet the needs of our customers. As the BDM-PS Centre of Excellence for Process Development of Plastic Devices and Drug Delivery Systems, we are an integral part of the Global Plastics Network. With approximately 500 employees, we are dedicated to providing high-quality products that support the management of diabetes and other medical conditions.
THE MICROBIOLOGY LEADER OPPORTUNITY:
Ensure timely microbiology product testing and batch release
Review air handling and filtration system performance in controlled production areas using both in-house routines and external contractor testing
Select and validate sub-contract sterilisation facilities and processes, and define routine release criteria
Evaluate and approve new or modified products, manufacturing processes, procedures, materials, utilities, and environments to achieve established microbiological control levels
Train and provide backup for Microbiology Technicians during leave periods
Maintain all written procedures related to microbiological control within the Quality Management System.
YOUR KEY SKILLS:
Background in microbiology, holding an MSc in Biomedical, Applied Biological Sciences, Medical Microbiology, and Bacteriology
Experience working in a cleanroom grade C environment within medtech/pharma manufacturing company, food, or cosmetics industry
Leadership experience of managing 3+ Micro Technicians
Expertise in sterile manufacturing or clean room manufacturing (not academic or laboratory)
Proficient in developing and implementing sampling plans in clean rooms, ensuring adequate air flows and pressure differentials
Experience with bioburden or endotoxin testing
Ability to train staff members in Cleanroom Gowning Procedures, including Aseptic Gowning and General Gowning.
