Youth First CharityAre you a passionate Youth Practitioner with a therapeutic background; passionate about making a difference in the lives of Lewisham young people?Then this role may be for you.Youth First’s mission is to support and improve young people’s lives through one-to-one mentoring, positive activities, workshops, adventure play and the provision of safe and supported spacesEmotional well-being is the number one reason for referral to our one-to-one mentoring programme and we recognise the need for an internal practitioner to directly support the young people we work with across our service.We have secured 5 years of funding from City Bridge Foundation for a clinically trained qualified and accredited Mental Wellbeing Practitioner. You will provide counselling and therapeutic support for young people in Lewisham who are referred to Youth First or who already access our youth clubs and services.You will be working with young people aged 12-19 (12-25 with SEND) who are just below the CAMHS threshold for or who have completed treatment, but who need support to manage their emotional wellbeing and mental health.As a Youth First, Mental Wellbeing Practitioner, you will receive confidential clinical supervision from a designated Lewisham CAMHS practitioner. You will be a part of the network of training and support provided by clinical practitioners working across the borough.Employer: Youth FirstSalary: £42,000 – £51,051 (inclusive of incremental annual rises), plus excellent benefitsHours: 36Contract: Hybrid, with counselling face-to-face at our Youth First Lewisham sites. MarchHolds a recognised clinical qualification (in counselling, pscyhotherapy, or clinical psychology.Holds a recognised membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. BACP/UKCP/NCS/BPS/HCPC)Has a working understanding of the BACP Ethical Framework for counselling professional standardsShows understanding and awareness of Youth First’s equality, diversity and inclusion policyHas experience of conducting rigorous risk assessments, clinical assessment, formulation and review of caseworkKnowledge and understanding of up to date legislation required when working with children and young people; including UNICEF, Mental Health Act, GDPR, Human Rights Act, The Children Act.Knowledge and understaning of how to work in a trauma informed way.To be a self-reflective practitioner and adapt practice accordingly from these reflections.Must be able to work flexible hours within the requested contracted hours and fitting to the needs of the service.
