About the Role:

As the Medical Director, you will be an essential part of the leadership team overseeing the leadership and management of the care team at Suvera.

Today, this care team is made up of over 50 people, and it is mainly composed of prescribing pharmacists. Your primary challenges will involve strategising, growing, and ensuring excellence in our virtual care team as we scale across the UK.

This role will report to the CEO and iscompensated with a base salary between £120,000 - £130,000 depending on experience and qualifications (not including equity package)

About Suvera:

Suvera is a digital health start-up on a mission to keep people in good health wherever they are in the world. We partner with general practices in the UK to deliver a virtual clinic that proactively supports the management of patients with long-term conditions. We have merely scratched the surface for what we can do for both clinical operations and chronic care pathways.
We have a team of phenomenal advisors, including Professor Bryan Williams who is the chair of Medicine at UCL and the man behind high blood pressure guidelines for the UK. We are a small (c. 90 people) cross-functional team from all backgrounds, and have our our own internal Care Team which employs both clinicians and care advisors.
We are backed by Google for Startups and the preeminent, global healthcare and technology venture capital firm Morningside Ventures, led by Dr. Gerald Chan.We have ambitions to become the largest healthcare provider in the world.

What you'll be doing :

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Leadership:
    • Set the strategy for changes and development of the care team as we grow based on the company objectives.
    • Set the strategy and plans to engage with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, team leads and clinical leads to ensure team cohesion and the delivery of the highest standards of care.
    • Collaborate with the product, tech and design functions to oversee the clinical safety of our technology, ensuring our platform is able to safely manage and deliver more conditions.
    • Coach & mentor members of the care leadership team to ensure high performance.
  2. Clinical Compliance:
    • Act as the registered manager with CQC alongside the CEO for our clinical service and continued evolution including risk management and mitigation for the care service
    • Oversee the maintenance and companywide compliance of clinical governance frameworks under CQC requirements.
    • Act as a point of escalation for clinical issues, disputes, or concerns, ensuring swift resolution and the highest levels of patient safety and quality of care.
  3. Clinical Performance:
    • Collaborate on care team workforce planning with central operations and guide initiatives for a 100+ sized care team within the next year and beyond to meet business needs.
    • Develop training and onboarding programmes for new care team members to ensure clinicians deliver highest quality care and therefore outcomes for patients.
    • Set rituals, rewards and feedback for clinical performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement from every care team member .
  4. Clinical Research:
    • Initiate, oversee, and evaluate clinical research efforts externally to ensure Suvera remains at the cutting edge of proactive care.
    • Collaborate and co-design with external research entities, institutions and partners to publish valuable research validating Suvera’s proactive care model.
    • Oversee and lead programmes of up-skilling and specialising clinicians as the service grows

We're looking for someone who:

Should have:

  • Registered GP with virtual care experience
  • Clear experience engaging with CQC requirements
  • Proven experience in a senior clinical leadership role, preferably in virtual care settings
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance and UK healthcare services regulations
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Passion for leveraging technology in healthcare

Nice to haves:

  • Previously a registered CQC manager experience
  • Experience in managing large, dynamic care team
  • Familiarity with leading high-quality clinical research in primary care
  • A vision for the future of proactive care on a global scale
