Mechanical Site Manager

There is a certain thrill to working on big projects, more money with larger teams and higher stakes. This role is based on the £20m M&E refurbishment of IRC Campsfield starting at the end of May 24 so if you are interested then read on.

The Project

As a privately owned Mechanical & Electrical Building Services contractor they provide services across Design & Build, full M&E services, HVAC, IT infrastructures, CCTV, security, access control and fire alarms. The company has been founded upon sound practises, quality installations and working closely with their clients on a range of projects which include, commercial, education, residential, healthcare, data centres and healthcare ranging in value up to £20m.

The project involves the refurbishment of an existing custodial centre near Oxford which was last used in 2018. The redevelopment forms part of the government plans to provide safe, secure and fit for purpose detained accommodation for those awaiting removal from the UK. Due to nature of the building, there are various elements to it which include accommodation, a medical centre, sports facilities/gymnasium, educational facilities, catering areas and a library with a total M&E value in the region of £20m.  Due to the bulk of their current workforce being based either Essex or Kent based they are looking to build a new team within a commutable distance to the Oxford area.

The scheme is due to go to site in January with a build program of a minimum of 12 months securing your employment for 2024. Due to the unusual nature of this project our client is relatively open to previous experience, although any experience on custodial projects would be deemed an advantage.

Your responsibilities will include:

You’ll be managing all aspects of site supervision and management including efficient management of all site operatives, plant, materials and equipment. You’ll be overseeing the quality checks and health & safety ensuring best practice is observed at all times.

You will be part of a well knit team including the project director, mechanical project manager, electrical project manager, an electrical opposite number, estimators and quantity surveyors.

The Company you will be working for:

The company in question is a £60m turnover M&E contractor, one of the best respected in the industry. They work on major new build & fit out, residential, commercial and data centres from £10m to £30m M&E with a well structured delivery team who support each other and work to create sustainable solutions for their clients. They have also spent a great deal of time creating a culture of promotion and retention, some of their Project Directors started with them as electricians, plumbers or engineers.

What Qualifications and Experience you will need:

Mechanical qualifications, preferably HNC, HND or BEng but they do not discount people who have come from a trade background.

5+ years of experience in site management

Proven track record of successfully delivering electrical projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and utilities.

Strong problem-solving skills

What your Compensation will be:

This is a top level project management position and you are compensated as such - £280 - £300 + travel
