About the Role



We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer to join our dedicated facilities team in South London. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all mechanical systems within our healthcare environment.





Key Responsibilities



Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.



Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime.



Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability of mechanical systems.



Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide efficient solutions to restore functionality.



Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any critical issues to the Facilities Manager.



Collaborate with other engineering team members and departments to ensure seamless operations.



Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, particularly those relevant to a healthcare setting.



Participate in shift handovers, providing detailed reports on completed tasks and any ongoing issues.



Qualifications and Experience



NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.



Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in a healthcare or similar environment.



Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, and general mechanical maintenance.



Ability to work on a rotating shift pattern, including nights, weekends, and holidays.



Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.



Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.



Knowledge of health and safety standards and procedures in a healthcare environment.
