Position Summary
We are looking to add some additional support within our Depot at Dollands Moor and are looking to engage a number of new electro/mech rolling stock maintenance fitters ideally to commence work between now and the end of November 2021
The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the Safety and Maintenance of the Companies busy Fleet of Locomotives undertaking works, maintenance and repairs in line with company Standards and Procedures
Person Profile/Experience:
A skilled Technician/Mechanic and ideally time served, you may have previous experience of undertaking maintenance, service and repair work on Diesel and/or Electric Locomotives, ideally on the underframes, bogies and wheel sets but we would would be keen to see anyone with experience from working within the Armed Forces, HGV's or Auto Electrical. You'll have the ability to make sound engineering decisions and will have good communication skills, written and oral.
You will have the skills, experience and confidence to undertake in-depth electrical and mechanical fault finding procedures and diagnosis then support or make the necessary repairs as required
You may have a current PTS but this is not essential as successful candidates will undertake a local PTS course if required
Adhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force
Maintain, service, fault find and repair Locomotives in accordance with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local manager
Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards
You will be physically fit and healthy, you will be required to undertake a NWR related medical and drugs & alcohol test which must be passed before any offer can be made, have a good sense of humour and be prepared to work outdoors where required.
Due to the nature of the work/role, an appreciation of H&S at work is essential, plus in line with Rail Industry Protocols there is a zero policy re being under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol
Key Criteria:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an Electro/Mech fitting skill set
2 years previous experience in a related discipline

Excellent work ethic
Punctual and reliable
Must be able to work a shift pattern, mornings, afternoons and nights
