Mechanical Estimator

Required: Mechanical Estimator (Building Services)

Location: Plymouth

Employment: Permanent

Salary: up to £50k (negotiable*) + car allowance

*the client/employer will look at more senior candidates (Bid Managers, Snr Estimator, M&E Estimator)

Requirements

A good knowledge of all mechanical systems which should include but not be limited to - ventilation, heating/chilled water, BMS and public health services

Capable of working on schemes valued up to £25m

Understand specifications and employers requirements

Assemble enquiries for specialist sub-contractors/suppliers

Identify risks

Consider value engineering

Ability to work on own initiative

Good communication skills

Develop relationships with customers and our supply chain

Consider innovation and new products.

Ability to use estimating software

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

Prepare each tender in a consistently structured and accurate format, with appropriate consideration of all foreseeable construction, technical and commercial risks and opportunities.

Keep Operations Managers/Directors informed of progress against programme and ensure the timely presentation of bid adjudications paperwork.

Review estimates received and work with Procurement to prepare and dispatch supplier / subcontract enquiries. Working with technical experts, assess quotations and validate the information received against the employer's requirements to ultimately select the most appropriate quotations for inclusion in the prime cost.

Meet tender deadlines

Collaborating with other team members in the estimating and pre-construction team

Interact with external design team where required

Conclude Tenders with the Contracts Directors
