Job DescriptionRole- Mechanical Design Team LeaderSalary- £65,000 - £75,000 per annum (dependent on experience)Type- PermanentLocation- OxfordMy client provides products and engineering solutions within the Manufacturing sector. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Team Lead to join their team in the Oxford area on a permanent basis.The Lead Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:At least 8 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation positionExperienced with full lifecycle product designExcellent proficiency with CAD software – ideally SolidWorks, Inventor or similarProven ability to drive Engineering developmentGood mathematical and general engineering knowledgeExcellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials – sheet metal, castings, machining etc.The ability to understand system requirementsExcellent leadership skills with experience managing othersBe able to lead the team confidently Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detailHave excellent communication skills both verbal and writtenHNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similarThe Lead Design Engineer role will involve:Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawingsNew product and technology development, from concept to completionSupporting key decision making in the design departmentLeading a small teamReviewing orders and creating plans to modify designs or design from scratchLiaising with manufacturing providersBeing involved in final assembly of productsBeing involved with technical updates and improvementsCreating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plansUpdating 3D models and drawingsInputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMsChecking drawings for sign offWorking in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
