Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading scientific instrumentation manufacturer are offering an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer; become part of their dynamic R&D team, collaborating across multiple disciplines and contributing to the design and development of the full product cycle.

Our client is an industry-leading scientific instrument manufacturer, delivering products with wide-reaching applications, including biomaterials, batteries, and petrochemicals. As a member of the R&D team, you will be responsible for designing and developing new scientific instruments and their peripheral devices, ensuring the appropriate documentation is completed to industry standards.

The main responsibilities for this role include:

• Producing detailed designs and associated documentation (models, drawings, bills of materials, construction documents and test specifications)


• Providing accurate estimates for work timescales


• Ensuring internal systems are up to date


• Liaising with current and new suppliers, both in-house and external


• Building and testing of prototypes

This role is offered on a full time, permanent contract and will be based at our clients facility in Manchester, with some flexible working options.

Candidates are encouraged to apply who:

• Hold a degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering


• Have designed using 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Catia, Autodesk etc.)


• Can demonstrate experience designing complex assemblies (both modular and singular)


• Have experience with Pro E Creo (beneficial)
