Ranked in the top 25 best service companies to work for in the UK, we now have an opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer working within our Pre-construction team.
Key aspects of the role
Involvement in the design process from initial conception to final production on a project led basis.
Working on projects throughout the UK including requirements for site surveying in some circumstances which may require extended periods working onsite on an infrequent basis
Attending client design meetings during the design development and construction phases of the projects to support engineering team.
Development of a robust design control process for the drawing office covering design review, documentation control and variation control.
Creating system designs and drawings in various disciplines supported by existing engineering team.
Oversight of drawing revisions and updated existing drawings and models based on design development and variations as required.
CAD design of system, technical calculations and working with accreditation bodies such as the LPCB where required through the design review process.
Oversight of subcontract design work and specialist design related consultants in relation to the design development and project delivery.
Detailed drawings of components, specialist systems and models as required.
Managing design side of commissioning and handover process of completed projects including as built drawings, completed building models and documentation handover.
Key Requirements
BSc / BEng or degree in appropriate engineering discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus appropriate working experience.
Knowledge of the requirements of various British & International Design Standards & Relevant codes of practice.
Ability to work to deadlines.
Auto Cad
Excellent Technical knowledge
Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation.
Knowledge of other specialist fire & security systems such as PA/VA, suppression systems & Aspirating Detection Systems.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook Etc.)
Good communication, calculation & literacy skills
Good time management and ability to cope with pressure and manage own workload and work to deadlines.
Willingness to learn, act with integrity and work as a team player.
