Job Description
A creative Mechanical Design Engineer – Cambridge – up to £60,000 – Complex mechanisms - 5+ years experience
Bluegate are seeking an experienced, innovative and creative Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well funded, high calibre multi-disciplined R & D driven technology company whose IP and technology is used in high end mobile devices, drones, autonomous vehicles and consumer electronic devices around the world. The role will involve the generation of new ideas and the design of complex mechanisms for such devices as smartphones, drones and wearables.
You will have the opportunity to make an important contribution to a dynamic and fast growing company with a global reach, joining a genuinely friendly, capable team who are working on some really interesting and difficult problems at the software / hardware / mechanical interface. Your work will instrumental in influencing and developing products that are more advanced than anybody else’s in the world.
Main Responsibilities:
Create new product ideas and concepts
Develop detailed designs that translate concepts into manufacturable products
Identify and resolve product issues through prototype build and test cycles
Collaborate other teams to ensure seamless integration
Engage with manufacturing partners and customers in Asia and US.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
A good degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
Solid understanding of mechanical fundamentals, including mechanism design, structural and dynamics analysis.
Experience with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
Proven experience in planning and prioritising work, managing multiple tasks in parallel.
Willingness to travel for customer support.
Strong customer-facing skills.
