Medium sized specialist MEP consultancy now requires a Mechanical Associate.  Delivering projects nationwide for a wide range of private and public sector customers. Offering full Mechanical & Electrical design services, alongside a sustainability team which covers low energy design and decarbonisation advice, the business is well placed to advise on projects of all sizes and complexities.

As a business they provide detailed design mechanical and electrical services for End Users, Main Contractors and M&E Contractors. The Midlands office is well established and has carved out a solid name in the Midlands over the years. As the Midlands office looks to grow and evolve further, the recruitment of a Mechanical Associate is viewed a key appointment. With a flat management structure deliberately in place, to offer clarity and visibility, the Associate’s report straight to the company owners and therefore make up part of the Senior Management Team. The additional level of commercial and operational responsibility is above and beyond what the term Associate means in many other practices, who dilute such duties across several middle management job titles.

The ideal applicant will be a seasoned deliver of HVAC projects, along with having an understanding of basic electrical services and the wider construction cycle. In addition, experience handling client and resource management, general cost control and project ownership are all essential criteria to ensure effective management of live schemes. The close working relationship between Associate grade and the Directors requires a strong personality fit, building strong links and facilitating trust. When possible, this is a role that is promoted internally, however there are occasions when such talent will need to be brought in from outside the company.

Applications are invited from highly technically competent and appropriately qualified Mechanical Building Services Engineers, who believe in providing a client facing and collaborative service to customers. The mentoring of junior staff and inspiring the next generation of Senior Engineers should be a duty the appointed Engineer takes on with energy and drive.

Finally, whilst the company aims to recruit a seasoned performer to slot straight into the Senior Management Team, the philosophy of the company will always be to nurture talent and provide pathways for those who excel to develop.
