The Mechanical Architect and Engineer Manager is an outstanding opportunity to:
Lead the Linx Mechanical team in all aspects of personal and product development. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to manage and develop the team, both technically and professionally, whilst defining and owning the mechanical architect of our products.
In this role, the Mechanical Architect and Engineering Manager will work across Linx to develop and maintain the next generation of printers. Working with the Senior Hardware Engineering Manager in Linx, St Ives, this is a great opportunity to use your industrial design experience, drive the technology and product architecture, win with a great team and build relationships across the diverse Engineering departments. This includes daily interactions with R&D Director, Electronics team, Program managers and Manufacturing engineers.
This position is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, who is experienced in CAD for industrial product sectors including a holistic mechanical systems overview, and wants to engage, nurture, and grow talent within the team. This role will be responsible for 4 professional engineers including 2 senior associates, to develop Linx branded Marking and Coding equipment. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, where support and encouragement are provided to grow and develop.
Your responsibilities at Linx will include:
Managing and motivating the mechanical team, implementing and driving critical thinking, demonstrating and developing technical competence with speed.
Responsible for the accelerated product development of new printer products using industrial design, incorporating mass production techniques using plastic mouldings, sheet metal work and designs for ease of production assembly. These robust systems include integration with complex mechanical, electronics and fluid systems to meet our customers’ high expectations.
Meeting agreed project key performance indicators, ensuring alignment to processes including design reviews, product verification and validation programs.
Working across departments from a mechanical perspective, developing rapport and engagement, whilst meeting agreed outcomes including quality, performance, time to market, sustainment and overall product cost.
Continuously improves systems and processes across the business in conjunction with the wider team, developing new technologies and standard toolsets (CAD, PDM, FEA etc) to help reduce design time, right first time, whilst also bringing new insights and engagement to Linx.
Technical specialist on all mechanical engineering matters that drive Linx’s products, including appreciation of the regulatory requirements for machine safety in a global market, whilst ensuring and maintaining a professional and safe working environment.
Your Education and/or Background Experience will include:
Detailed knowledge on topics including mechanical engineering from first principles, sophisticated system integration, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
Experienced in SolidWorks, Creo, with additional use of Adobe Illustrator and Windchill a distinct advantage.
