As a mechanic, youll safely prepare our customers cars for the road ahead. Youll care about every detail and take pride in doing a meticulous job. Essential skills
A certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid work experience in the automotive industry
The ability to work in a competent and efficient manner on your own or part of a busy team
Strong communication skills
Good attention to detail
The ability to carry out work to high standards and to deadlines
A proactive and enthusiastic approach
The ability to accurately follow written and spoken instructions
A full driving licence
Day-to-day duties
Carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards.
Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately, using computer-based diagnostic equipment.
Repairing or replacing broken or defective parts and resolving defects.
Carrying out DVSA vehicle testing (if authorised).
Road testing vehicles to check repairs.
Maintaining equipment and making sure tools are in good condition.
Following checklists to ensure all procedures are completed.

The below is the criteria to qualify for the performance bonus payment and the TIP criteria:

1) You must be a Technician or an Apprentice in third or fourth year.
2) On joining Arnold Clark, you must be signed up to our Technician Improvement Programme and work a contracted 44-hour week. You will be given details of this when you join.
3)This bonus is accrued based on yearly performance, with each years pot being held until the end of year three.
4) Time keeping and attendance Ensure you have no more than three instances of absence or lateness.
5) Quality and customer complaints Ensure you do not have any issues recorded against you. We know mistakes can happen, so youve got the opportunity to redeem this point by using your second chance card provided an issue raised against you is not too serious.
6) Additional hours You need to work 52 hours overtime in a six-month period. That equates to just two hours per week; and best of all, its paid at time and a half.
7) Resigning or being dismissed before the end of any three-year period would result in no payment being made.
8) Arnold Clark reserves the right to amend / change / cancel this performance scheme at any time.
