An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8aMatron- Critical Care Outreach and Hospital at Nightat St George's Hospital.To operationally lead the Critical Care Outreach and Hospital at Night teams and to provide advanced clinical expertise, knowledge and skills utilising clinical judgement skills and decision making in the care and management of acutely unwell patients.This would include leading and participating in all variety of clinical emergencies, such as NEWS calls, medical emergencies and cardiac arrest calls, as well as assisting in the provision of level 2/3 care outside of the Critical Care Unit.To lead and innovate nursing, allied health care professional & medical practice in the specialty of Critical Care Outreach and to ensure all Trust staff are best prepared to manage life threatening emergencies encountered during the course of their work To be a highly visible and proactive leader acting as a clinical resource and ensuring the sustained delivery of high standards of nursing care and service delivery.To take responsibility for own evidence-based practice and to implement and add to the body of knowledge that supports clinical practice related to acutely unwell patients within the Trust, nationally and internationally.Main duties of the jobTo lead on and promote educational strategies for professional groups with regard to the assessment, care, interventions and management of the deteriorating patient, patients who are acutely unwell, and patients who have been recently discharged from the Critical Care Unit and to assist the Critical Care Team with patients who have critical care rehabilitation needs.To lead on and assist in the facilitation, organization and provision of education and training on the deteriorating patient.To have a role with the Trust Quality Improvement team, leading QI initiatives within Critical Care and the wider remit of Outreach and Hospital at Night.To be responsible for exploring current practice, identifying areas for development, and planning the appropriate change using current evidence to evaluate outcomes.To be responsible for the quality of the patient's environment and lead on facilitating changes which improve the patients experience To play a key operational role and maintain a proactive approach to managing patient flow through the service.About usWith nearly 9,000 dedicated staff caring for patients around the clock, they are the largest healthcare provider in southwest London.Their main site, St George's Hospital in Tooting - one of the country's principal teaching hospitals - is shared with St George's, University of London, which trains medical students and carries out advanced medical research.
