An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse with cardiology background to join the senior nursing team as Matron within the Directorate of Medicine and Therapies at London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust.This is a pivotal role and as the Matron you will have key responsibility to ensure that patients receive high quality and compassionate care within the medical wards and specialist services, supported by the Ward Managers and the Clinical Nurse Specialists in line with the Trust's vision.Effective communication, a strong collaborative approach and ability to engage the nursing workforce and multidisciplinary team within an ever changing and challenging environment is essential.You will provide leadership, training and education and form part of the wider clinical leaders peer group across the Trust.Key objectives will include implementation of the national and local nursing strategies and achievement of key performance indicators in relation to quality of care and patient experience. You will require strong leadership skills of an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced nurse who is able to make a positive difference to your teams. The ability to quickly build strong working relationships with the Matrons group will be essential to take our demanding agenda forward.Main duties of the job1. The post holder will be the key clinical leader ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice and clinical care is delivered to patients.The post holder will provide professional leadership and management to all accountable staff' including recruitment, appraisal, continual professional development and disciplinary matters in order to provide a patient focused service.Accountable for service delivery, including clinical standards, management of clinical risk and complaints - liaising with other agencies as appropriate and playing a pro-active role in quality improvement.Responsible for nursing budgets and effective management of resources.Responsible for service development relating to nursing and the wards in accordance to national recommendations and standards.The post holder will be ward and departmental based and clinical for 75% of the time.Responsible for driving the ethos behind the NHS Matron's Charter in relation to providing a clean environment for patients and thereby reducing the risk of hospital acquired infections.About usLondon North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the people of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and beyond.Our team of more than 8,200 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of almost one million people.We run major acute services at:Northwick Park Hospital: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A& E) in the country.
