About the role- Maths Teacher - Lewisham

  • Implementing effective lessons that meet the National Curriculum and are suitable for students from 11 to 16 years of age.
  • Keeping up-to-date with any changes and developments to the national teaching curriculum.
  • Ability to adapt your instructional materials and teaching methods to meet the learning needs of different students.
  • Plan lesson plans that provide pupils with an opportunity to observe, question, and investigate as a balance of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
  • Being creative and enthusiastic about using different teaching methods, including solo work, group work, whole-class work, demonstrations, and experiments.
  • Oversee the work of the learning support staff and Teaching Assistants (TAs).
  • Attending meetings, parent's evenings and participating in training and development sessions at the school or at other training organisations.
  • Ensure order among your students by enforcing appropriate behaviour rules.
  • Creating a classroom environment where pupils work together to achieve their learning goals.
  • Helping and supporting individual pupils as required and encouraging them to research topics themselves.
  • Keeping a register of pupils' attendance, set assignments and homework, mark pupils work, record completion, write progress reports and carry out continuous assessment.
  • Meeting with parents, guardians or carers to discuss their child/children's progress in Maths and determine learning priorities and any needed resources.

About the School- Maths Teacher/Teacher of Maths - Lewisham

The successful candidate must be able to teach Maths at Key Stages 3 - 4 and ideally Key Stage 5. In a perfect world, the ideal Math Teacher / Teacher of Maths will be enthused about the curriculum and eager to develop new and improved methods of teaching topics and spark the students' interest in them. The excellent Maths Teacher will also join a Maths department that enjoys sharing ideas and resources, which means you must be a strong team player and capable of working cooperatively. This would be a great opportunity for a Maths teacher to work in this school on a long-term basis as our staff is extremely supportive and is available to assist you at all times.!
